I bought this or my son-in-law for Christmas and he absolutely loves it. He can have a cold beer from a tap anytime he wants it. He says it works great!

False Advertising & cheap plastic parts

After one keg, the black plastic tap broke when disconnecting it from the keg. The directions indicate to squeeze the two tabs to disconnect, though one of them snapped off rendering it useless. One of the primary reasons I purchased this was for beer other than just Heineken. As many reviews indicated (subsequent to my purchase of course), Edgestar conversion kits are not available - despite their advertising and a slip in the box indicating how to order.

One of the main differentiating factors for this product over others is the conversion kit, and they seem to continue to use it as a competitive advantage even though they clearly realize it's not available. Yes, they provided an untested (and not guaranteed) alternate which costs twice as much as their branded conversion kit, but ethically, they should take whatever steps necessary to ensure consumers know their branded and much more affordable conversion kit is not available prior to purchasing.

Did not work as advertised

I purchased this unit because it was advertised to handle non-Heineken type mini kegs. When I tried to order an accessory kit to support such mini kegs, I discovered that the kit was no longer available. This was definitely a case of false advertising.

Enjoy the Heineken: conversion kits aren't available

We received the EdgeStar mini kegerator as a Christmas gift. The mini-kegerator works well and was easy to set up.

For the last month, I have tried to order the conversion kit so that we can drink other brands of beer besides Heineken. Sure, Heineken is great, but enjoying Heineken from a keg doesn't even require a kegerator (everything is included with the Heineken mini-keg).

The folks at EdgeStar say it will be "many months -if ever" before the optional attachment kit is available.
We are now considering purchasing the Avanti because it comes with the kit already. We'll just take the loss on this otherwise identical unit before I go insane drinking nothing but Heineken.

BOUGHT TWO OF THESE FOR CHRISTMAS GIFTS ALONG WITH TWO ACCESSORY CONVERSION KITS. THE ACCESSORY CONVERSION KIT IS NEEDED TO USE WITH OTHER MINI KEGS BESIDES HEINEKEIN, WIDMER, AND NEW CASTLE. CALLED TODAY TO GET A MISSING PART THAT WENT WITH ONE OF THE ACCESSORY KITS OR PURCHASE ANOTHER COMPLETE KIT ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THE ACCESSORY KITS ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE AND UNKNOWN IF THEY WILL EVER GET THEM BACK. THE ONE COMPLETE ACCESSSORY KIT I DID RECEIVE WORKS GREAT! I HAVE PURCHASED A COUPLE OF EMPTY MINI KEGS THAT I HAVE HAD FILLED AT DIFFERENT BREWERY'S AND IT WORKS GREAT! THE KEGERATOR KEEPS THE BEER PERFECTLY COLD. IF YOU PURCHASE THIS KEGERATOR TO USE WITH OTHER MINI BEER KEGS BESIDES HEINEKEIN, THINK AGAIN AS YOU NEED THE ACCESSORY KIT TO DO THAT WHICH ACCORDING TO THE MFG. IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE! UPDATE: RECEIVED THE MISSING PART FOR CONVERSION KIT FROM VENOTEMP AND IT WORKS GREAT! THE CONVERSION KIT FROM THEM THAT THEY SHOW ON THEIR WEBSITE, APPEARS TO BE IDENTICAL TO THE EDGESTAR KIT BUT ALOT MORE EXPENSIVE.
